Our client is a Malaysia-based industrial technology company specialising in automation, electrical power systems, and renewable energy solutions. The company serves clients across the oil & gas and broader industrial sectors, with operations spanning Asia and international markets.

About the Role

This role is ideal for a legal professional with experience in legal, compliance or corporate governance who is comfortable working closely with senior management. The In-House Lawyer will support both strategic and operational matters, including contract management, regulatory compliance, risk assessment and internal governance. In addition, this role involves providing executive-level support to Directors, requiring a high level of professionalism, discretion and organisational capability.

Responsibilities
  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements related to business operations
  • Conduct legal research and monitor regulatory developments affecting the organisation
  • Advise management on legal, compliance, and risk-related matters, including mitigation strategies
  • Develop, review, and maintain internal policies, procedures and compliance frameworks
  • Liaise with external legal counsel, consultants and regulatory authorities as required
  • Conduct internal compliance reviews and audits to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations
  • Provide confidential executive support to Directors, including managing schedules, correspondence, reports and travel arrangements
  • Coordinate meetings, manage documentation and handle sensitive corporate matters with discretion

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Legal Studies, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field
  • 7–15 years of experience in legal, compliance, corporate governance or risk management roles
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, legal documentation and regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Mandarin-speaking candidates are preferred to liaise with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders
