Senior Associate (Dispute Resolution)

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a motivated and commercially minded Senior Associate to join its growing Dispute Resolution Practice. This role offers exposure to complex and high-value commercial disputes, construction and infrastructure matters, arbitration proceedings and corporate advisory work. It presents an excellent opportunity for experienced litigators seeking greater responsibility, direct client engagement and a clear pathway for long-term career progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle commercial litigation and dispute resolution matters from inception through resolution.
  • Manage construction, infrastructure, engineering, and other complex commercial disputes.
  • Advise clients on corporate, commercial, contractual and regulatory disputes.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, arbitrations, mediations and settlement negotiations.
  • Draft pleadings, affidavits, submissions, legal opinions, correspondence and other litigation-related documents.
  • Draft and review commercial agreements and transaction-related documentation.
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategies for contentious and advisory matters.
  • Manage files independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of legal work.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and practical legal advice.
  • Supervise and mentor junior lawyers and pupils where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the firm’s Dispute Resolution Practice.

Requirements

  • Called to the Malaysian Bar and in good standing.
  • Minimum 5 years’ Post-Qualification Experience (PQE).
  • Strong experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Commercial Litigation
    • Arbitration
    • Construction and Infrastructure Disputes
    • Corporate and Commercial Advisory
    • Commercial Transactions and Contract Advisory
  • Strong drafting, analytical, advocacy and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage matters independently and take ownership of files.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and client-facing skills.
  • High level of professionalism, responsibility and attention to detail.
  • Mandarin proficiency (spoken and written) is an added advantage.
