Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Group’s Legal Department and legal team.
- Provide strategic legal advice to the Board of Directors, Group CEO, Management, and business units.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on commercial contracts, joint ventures, partnerships, procurement agreements, financing documents, and other legal instruments.
- Manage corporate governance matters and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Oversee litigation, arbitration, dispute resolution, and engagement with external legal counsel.
- Advise on corporate transactions including mergers, acquisitions, investments, restructuring, and property-related matters.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage legal risks across the organization.
- Develop and implement legal policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, government agencies, external stakeholders, and legal advisors.
- Support business growth initiatives by providing commercially practical legal solutions.
Requirements:
Academic & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university.
- Admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya or equivalent qualification.
- Master’s Degree in Law, Business Administration, or related discipline will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 10–15 years of post-qualification experience in legal practice and/or corporate legal environment.
- At least 5 years in a senior leadership or managerial capacity.
- Experience handling corporate, commercial, regulatory, governance, litigation, and compliance matters.
- Candidates with prior experience as a practising advocate and solicitor, particularly in corporate, litigation, dispute resolution, and court proceedings, are highly encouraged to apply.
- Exposure to various industries such as infrastructure, utilities, water services, construction, property development, or public-listed companies will be an added advantage.
