Associate Legal Counsel

The Legal, Compliance and Finance teams play a key role in ensuring the business complies with applicable regulations, maintains strong governance frameworks and continues to grow sustainably while safeguarding the interests of its users and stakeholders. The company is seeking an experienced Associate Legal Counsel to support its business in managing legal advisory, compliance, disputes, regulatory matters and business operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide timely, pragmatic legal advice on a broad range of legal matters across various business units, including trade laws, labour matters, tax and general compliance requirements.
• Review, update and support the implementation of internal policies, templates, operational guidelines and legal frameworks to ensure compliance with legal requirements and group standards.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to manage sensitive internal investigations, grievances, and disputes, including assessing legal risks and advising on appropriate resolutions.
• Manage regulatory inquiries, investigations and inspections by preparing timely responses, advising on corrective actions and recommending improvements where required.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to proactively identify, assess and manage legal risks while balancing compliance obligations with operational and commercial objectives.
• Support the Litigation team in handling general disputes, including providing input on legal strategy and identifying opportunities to strengthen business practices and operational processes.
• Monitor regulatory developments relevant to the business, assess their impact on operations and provide practical recommendations to stakeholders.
• Deliver training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal updates, compliance risks and best practices.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in the Philippines.
• Approximately 3–7 years of post-qualification experience in compliance advisory and/or litigation.
• Prior experience in a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal environment is preferred but not essential.
• Strong working knowledge of Philippine law, with regional legal experience considered an advantage.
• Experience handling disputes, labour matters, regulatory issues, investigations or compliance advisory work.
• Ability to manage cross-border matters and collaborate effectively with regional stakeholders.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, advise and collaborate across business teams and legal functions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex legal issues for non-legal audiences.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth and matrixed environment while balancing commercial objectives with legal compliance requirements.
• Ability to leverage legal technology and AI tools to enhance legal research, analysis, efficiency and delivery of practical legal solutions.
