- Analyse complex legal issues and translate court papers, legal advice and developments into clear and practical explanations for non-legal stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates on the status, risks, strategy and next steps of ongoing matters.
- Coordinate the collection and review of documents and information required for litigation and court proceedings.
- Assist with preparation of witnesses and internal stakeholders for meetings, conferences and court proceedings where required.
- Manage litigation timelines and ensure that instructions, documents and responses are provided to external solicitors within the required deadlines.
- Monitor external legal counsel, legal fees and overall litigation costs.
- Assist with negotiations, mediation and settlement discussions where appropriate.
- Provide legal research and advisory support on related legal matters.
- Support other litigation, commercial or property-related disputes as required and/or any works assigned by the Head of Legal and/or stakeholders.
Requirements

- Admission to the Malaysian Bar.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant litigation and dispute resolution experience.
- Strong experience in contentious probate, estate disputes and/or trust-related disputes.
- Experience dealing with beneficial ownership, shareholder or family-business related disputes will be an advantage.
- Experience in property-related disputes, adjudication or arbitration will also be an added advantage.
- Strong ability to review and interpret complex litigation documents and court papers.
- Able to distil complex legal issues into concise, practical and layman-friendly explanations for Management and other non-legal stakeholders.
- Strong drafting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills.
- Able to work independently, manage multiple matters simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
- Comfortable coordinating and managing external solicitors rather than personally conducting all aspects of litigation.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a practising litigator with experience handling complex contentious matters, particularly probate, estate and trust disputes, who is interested in transitioning into an in-house role.
The individual should be able to look beyond the technical legal issues, understand the practical implications of a dispute and clearly advise stakeholders on risk, available options and recommended next steps.
