Litigation Partner

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Banking Litigation Partner to lead and expand the firm’s Banking Litigation practice. This is a strategic leadership position for a seasoned practitioner with strong technical expertise, proven business development capabilities, and established relationships within the banking industry.

The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening and growing the firm’s panel banking practice while leading and mentoring a team of banking litigation lawyers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the firm’s Banking Litigation practice and team.
• Handle and oversee a broad range of banking and financial services disputes, including debt recovery, foreclosure proceedings, insolvency matters, and related litigation.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective banking clients.
• Drive business development initiatives and actively secure new instructions and files, particularly from panel banks and financial institutions.
• Provide strategic legal advice and commercially sound solutions to clients.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop junior lawyers and support staff within the banking litigation team.
• Ensure matters are managed efficiently and in accordance with the firm’s service standards and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to the firm’s overall growth strategy and business objectives.

Requirements

• Malaysian-qualified lawyer with at least 7 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in Banking Litigation.
• Demonstrated experience acting for banks and financial institutions, preferably with exposure to panel banking work.
• Proven ability to generate work and maintain strong client relationships within the banking sector.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple matters effectively.
• Commercially minded with excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong desire to grow and lead a thriving banking litigation practice.
